NEW expert input paper on eco-design & energy labelling for photovoltaics!

A little less than a year ago PVthin, together with the European Technology and Innovation Platform for Photovoltaics (ETIP PV), SolarPower Europe, the European Solar Manufacturing Council, and the IEC System for Certification to Standards Relating to Equipment for Use in Renewable Energy Applications (IECRE) started a Joint Mission Group (May 2020) with the aim of guiding and supporting the European Commission in the development of Eco-Design, Energy Labeling and Green Public Procurement criteria for solar photovoltaic modules, inverters and systems. The result? The Expert Input Paper “Eco-Design & Energy Labelling for photovoltaic modules, inverters and systems in the EU”! More than 50 experts from various organisations have worked together, combining their expertise and the latest scientific advancements to create this Exert Input Paper. The document contains both a revision of the eco-design, energy labelling and sustainability criteria proposed by the Commission in its Preparatory Study and concrete policy recommendations.”

This initiative is part of the EU’s intention to revise the Ecodesign Directive in 2021. So far the feedback from the European Commission is really positive, and confirmed to rely on the valuable input for the development of the final legislative proposal.
